FALL LEAF COLLECTION (posted October 20, 2014)

Leaf and yard waste collections are at 2-week intervals from October 13 through November 21.

Rake leaves and small yard and garden debris into the gutter or to the edge of the pavement beginning October 12 through November 9 for ZONE 1 and through November 16 for ZONE 2.

Branches and brush may also be placed into the gutter at this time. Branches and brush must be cut down to 4’ lengths and bundled not to exceed 45 pounds.

DO NOT RAKE LEAVES OR PLACE YARD WASTE INTO THE GUTTER AT ANY OTHER TIME.

Please keep piles low so that children are not hidden from motorists’ view and close to the curb so as not to interfere with traffic. During fall collection, City crews will collect leaves and yard waste from the street gutter only. No containers will be collected. Leaves and yard debris should be placed in the gutter by the Sunday night prior to your collection week.

Leaves on the following streets will be pushed into piles on side streets as often as possible, but due to heavy traffic, residents are encouraged to transport leaves to the yard waste sites rather than rake them into the gutter. Both sites are open through November 24 with the Glendale site open year-round.

Ballard Road
College Av.
Calumet St.
Lawe St. from College Ave. to Wisconsin Ave.
Mason St. north of Prospect Av.
Meade St.
Newberry St.
Oneida Street
Richmond St./Memorial Dr.
Wisconsin Ave.

If weather permits, there will be one additional non-scheduled pass through the city starting November 24. Winter may come early and snow may prevent us from doing this additional collection. If weather prevents the City from completing the leaf and yard waste collection after your final collection, residents are responsible for leaf and yard waste disposal. The Glendale Site is open year round on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. No additional special collections will be scheduled. For more details, call Public Works Operations at 832-5580.

It is crucial to our leaf collection operations to be able to work during the night. For that reason, starting on October 12, the Police Department will not grant permission for overnight parking in areas that are affected by leaf collection. Vehicles that are illegally parked overnight (between the hours of 2:00 a.m.-5:00 a.m.) will be subject to ticketing and towing. Thank you for your cooperation.
